Well I'm going about this backwards since we have been TTC for a little over a year now!
So some background info to get you all caught up, on our TTC Journey
For medical reasons in 2008 I was ordered to get off and stay off BC of any form. Long story short, diagnosed with DVT (deep vein thrombisis). In other words, blood clot. No, it was not found in my leg, or even thankfully in a lung, but worse. Back of my brain of all places. The only thing that they could possibly trace it to was in fact BC pills. So, no more of those since then.
So, we really have done nothing to prevent a pregnancy from then on. Around January I started charting my temps, and getting used to OPK's. I have always had a cycle every month, although never around the same time. Come to find out a few days here and there are normal.
Fast forward to April 2010, getting worried I did my research on the top fertility clinics in my area. Found one and wasted no time making an appointment. Now you may ask why I just did not go through my ob/gyn? Well thats later!! ( since I started getting annuals so long ago I have always seen a NP). Yes I called her office and they reffered me to the same clinic no less. I had my first appt, took 2+ hours going over everything. He then ordered blood work, and some pretty invasive tests. After all testing had been completed I went back in for results. Come to find out I have a higher than normal for my age FSH level, and higher testesterone levels as well. DR wanted to go right to clomid and IUI. Wait what?? Thats it no other solutions or things that cam be tried? Mind you that procedure cost a little over $500, oh and almost forgot to mention the SA that he orderd that was in the nieghborhood og $300!!! what? really? so that was put on hold, and still is.
Going forward to present day, Aug 3, 2010, found an ob/gyn that was referred to me and figured I should have one anyways since she will be the one delivering our miracle. Wonderful woman, and surprise she deals with fertility!!!!! added bonus. Well I was due for my annual so I had my appointment for that and figured I could talk about other issues at the same time. Let me just say, love this woman! sweetest thing ever, listened to all I had to say and everything she told me was so reassuring. So that day I went down to the lab for blood work, 5 vials I think. REeally did not pay attention to be honest! and have some more scheduled blood work for certain times during my next cycle. She obviously wants a SA of FH and come to find out it only costs $60! are you kidding me? why would it need to cost 3 times as much elsewhere? are they washed in pure gold or something? needless to say its all the way with her from here on out!
